(M.A, C.Psych)

Psychologist, Senior consultant

Michal Gilboa-Hermel is a clinical psychologist. She is licensed in Ontario by the College of Psychologists (CPBAO)  to work with children, adolescents, and adults.

Therapeutic Approach and Philosophy

Michal primarily practices, consults, and provides clinical supervision within a psychodynamic (and psychodynamic-psychoanalytic) framework, which has been her main modality throughout over two decades of education, training, and practice, in Israel and in Canada (BC and Ontario). She continues to deepen her expertise through advanced studies at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Institute.

In addition to her psychodynamic foundation, Michal has gained training and experience in a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, IPT, EFFT, and EFT for couples. She integrates elements from these modalities when appropriate to best support her clients.

Michal is also trained in crisis intervention, psychological first aid, and trauma therapy. She has received parent coaching certification through the Adler Centre (Vancouver) and holds specific training in supporting women experiencing the psychological and emotional challenges associated with perimenopause and menopause.

She believes in insight-oriented therapy, viewing self-understanding as a vital step toward acceptance and meaningful change. Her work focuses on gradually untangling the complexities of one’s inner world and real-life relationships within a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and ultimately healing therapeutic relationship.

However, personal and professional experiences inspired a shift in direction, leading her to start anew in the Department of Psychology, a decision she feels grateful for each time she enters the clinic. Since the events of October 7 in Israel, her commitment to Jewish, and especially Israeli, communities has deepened. This renewed sense of purpose has led her to join Inner Circle Therapy, where she will offer professional consultation, clinical supervision, and group facilitation.
