Psycho-educational Assessments
Psycho-educational assessments for learning disabilities, attention difficulties, and giftedness, providing comprehensive evaluation and guidance for children and youth aged 6 to 16
What We Assess:
This comprehensive evaluation examines the cognitive, academic, and social-emotional factors that influence learning. Through standardized testing and clinical observation, we identify specific learning disabilities, cognitive processing strengths and weaknesses, and attention or executive functioning concerns that may be impacting academic performance.
What You Receive:
The assessment provides a detailed profile of how your child learns best, along with evidence-based recommendations for classroom accommodations and/or remedial supports, as well as parenting strategies and personalized tools to support emotional and behavioral growth.
How It Helps:
Results can be used to advocate for an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Identification, Placement, and Review Committee (IPRC) meeting within the Ontario public school system, and to guide parents and educators in creating an optimal learning environment tailored to your child's unique needs.

The Benefits of Psycho-educational Assessments
Provides clarity and direction
Accurate identification of learning disabilities, attention difficulties, or other learning differences offers a clear understanding of your child's cognitive strengths and challenges, and helps uncover the root causes of academic or emotional struggles.
Enables targeted support
Delivers specific recommendations for accommodations, teaching strategies, and interventions tailored to your child's learning profile.
Informs individualized planning
Supports the development of an IEP or other formal education plan that addresses your child's specific needs within the school system.
Builds self-understanding
Helps children and teens understand their own learning style, fostering self-advocacy skills and reducing feelings of frustration or inadequacy.
Supports long-term success
Accurate assessment and appropriate support improve both academic outcomes and social-emotional well-being over time.
What to Expect
The assessment typically takes place over 2-3 sessions and is tailored to your child's needs. This includes one parent interview session and approximately six hours of direct assessment with your child or teen.
Thinking and Learning Skills
Activities that look at how your child thinks, remembers information, solves problems, and stays organized.
Reading, Writing, and Math
Evaluation of academic skills to identify specific learning challenges like dyslexia (reading difficulties), dysgraphia (writing difficulties), and dyscalculia (math difficulties).
Emotional and Behavioral Factors
Questionnaires and conversations to understand how feelings like anxiety or frustration, and behaviors at school, may be affecting your child's learning.
Detailed Written Report and Feedback
Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report that includes detailed evaluation results, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations for educational accommodations, intervention strategies, and support approaches tailored to your child's unique learning profile.
